Vivienne Westwood is one of the most fascinating fashion symbols, revolutionizing styles and trends then and now. She is the one who made modern punk and new wave huge trends, bringing them into the mainstream.
Not only a brilliant designer, she is also an activist that uses fashion as a tool and a platform to convey important messages about climate change, sustainable fashion, politics and empowerment. Daring and not at all conventional, she continues to amaze with her endless energy and creative genius.
British Vogue Interview
Last year in October she had a great talk with Naomi Campbell at British Vogue, discussing their common passion for philanthropy and activism. They also talked about a specific moment that turned their collaboration into an iconic fashion show.
In 1993, at the Vivienne Westwood catwalk for the 93/94 collection “Anglomania”, Naomi Campbell tripped on the runway while wearing a pair of Vivienne’s extremely extravagant and almost impossible to walk in shoes. This definitely turned the show into the talk of the town, but didn’t stop the collaboration between the two. The pair has worked many times since then, but it is only now when Naomi becomes the front of her first Vivienne Westwood campaign.
I believe things in life come along when they are meant to. It’s taken 33 years to do a Westwood Campaign and I’m so happy to be doing it in my 49th year. It’s meant to be when it’s meant to be…

33 Years since Their First Collaboration
Vivienne Westwood and Naomi Campbell worked for the first time somewhere in 1987 and now after 33 years, they reunite for this excellent new collection and campaign.
Shot in the 18th Arrondissement of Paris, the new Vivienne Westwood Spring/Summer 2020 campaign is dreamy and almost surrealistic. It combines modern streetwear shots with mythological ideas, wrapped up in a David Lynch atmosphere.
Andreas Kronthaler, Vivienne’s husband and designer partner, is featured in this campaign alongside Naomi and Vivienne.
When I design clothes they always have to have a story and when somebody shoots me in our clothes I always have to have that story in my mind. I’ve been reading Mythology – for this it was like we were on our way to paradise and we were all going to change from fish into birds…
