Rome wasn’t Built in a Day

Rome is one of the most fascinating cities I have seen, because it is so rich in history and you actually walk on the ruins of the Ancient Rome. It’s a wonderful movie set like Fellini would use to say. It’s a dream! It is an oasis of beauty and inspiration and you can discover new things every day: new streets, new hidden parts of Rome, magical keyholes (and you will find out in a minute what I want to say by that). Let’s explore Rome together!

It was very hard to choose the top things I recommend for you to do in Rome, especially if you are on a budget, but Rome offers so many things that you can explore and play in it even if you do not have a big budget.

A Wonderful Movie Set

From seeing all the squares, St. Peter’s Square to Piazza Navona, with all the fascinating monuments and fountains – works of art that lay under the sweet and warm Roman sun, ready for you to see and admire. It seems like Rome has never lost its youth and freshness.

Fontana di Trevi is a very special place and it leaves you breathless. The first time I have seen it rise behind the buildings, my heart skipped a beat. Its majestic beauty is unique and probably being a huge fan of Fellini’s La Dolce Vita, this actual movie set became immortalized in a fantastic scene between Anita Ekberg and Marcello Mastroianni.

Visiting Cinecitta

Speaking about films, you have to see Cinecitta, the famous film studios, house of Fellini, the place where Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton filmed Cleopatra and where Martin Scorsese filmed Gangs of New York. If you are passionate about films, this place is a must.

I had no idea that you can actually visit the film studios as the place is very underrated and you do not find it as a top thing to do, a must see in any of the popular websites, so few people know about it and that makes it even better as it is not crowded. English tours are available two times a day, at 11:30 and 15:15 and you have to be part of one tour to see the actual film sets, but you can also visit the museums and take a glimpse into the backstage and the creative process of making a film.
